History

The T.P. Mills Company, an independent company, has been in the golf industry since the early 60's. Throughout this time the name has been known for its quality and craftsmanship, winning many major championships and tournaments on the PGA Tour, Champions Tour and PGA European Tour.

Golf legends such as Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino and Gary Player have relied upon T.P. Mills putters. Bernhard Langer won the Masters using a T.P. Mills putter while Jerry Pate, Hale Irwin and Ken Venturi won the U.S. Open. Among other winners have been Peter Jacobson, Jay Haas, Scott Hoch and Colin Montgomerie.

Most recent PGA Tour wins have come from Phil Mickelson, David Toms and Tommy Armour III, with PGA European Tour wins coming from Jarmo Sandelin and Pierre Fulke. In 2005, Champions Tour wins came from Mike Reid and David Eger.

Described as "an artist with a mystique for his one-of-a-kind, hand made putters," Truett P. Mills is regarded as the father of the modern putter design.*

T.P. Mills's putters have been treasured by 5 U.S. Presidents as well as countless prime ministers, national and foreign dignitaries, celebrities and hundreds of PGA Tour players over four decades.

  • Originator of the hand milled putter.
  • First to mark the true sweet spot with his famous "crossed dots" and "oval sighting mark" on the face and top of the putter respectively.
  • First to design the modern 'slant heel' located behind the hosel.
  • First to make the putter head black, thus offering a greater contrast between the putter and the ball.

Today the T.P. Mills Co. runs under the leadership of T.P.'s son David whose talent and craftsmanship are well recognized among the top PGA tour players and amateur players around the world. And whose handmade models have won many current PGA Tour and European events ensuring the family a proud tradition of making handmade's one at a time. Thus the Mills family continues to design and develop new models with each one being a putter of precision craftsmanship that many believe cannot be matched.
